Do you live within 3 blocks of Union Square?
I'm looking for a place near Union Sqaure where I can shower, store a small bag of clothes, and occasionally watch TV.

I moved to Brooklyn 6 months ago. Since then, I burn an extra an average $80 and 25 hours a month to run home to shower/change and head back to Manhattan to meet friends.

I will offer you $100/mo to have access to your apartment. I would like a key and would never visit past 10pm, unless you invited me to stay later (like if, for example, there was 2-hour episode of Lost on TV).

Please send pics of your showerhead to zklein at gmail.

Thx

UPDATE: I found a match. Will post pics of the shower as soon as I get permission.

To you
STRANGER! if you, passing, meet me, and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me?
And why should I not speak to you?

Russian Margarita
I coined the term while mixing drinks on warm night this weekend, for a lack of ingredients on hand:

1 part Vodka
1 part Crystal Light

If you're feel decadent, spruce with a Fresca floater.

From my girlfriend upon returning from a company pep rally for their recent acquisition by Microsoft:
They played the Microsoft startup noise, and then dropped balloons. Only, it didn't work the first time so they had to do it again. Seemed fitting.

Nick Gray in India

Have you been keeping tabs on Nick Gray's blog? It used to only detail minutiae from surburban American South, but Nick's gone up and quit his job in Atlanta to move to Mumbai, India. And despite what you might assume about Westerners in India, be certain that Nick's account isn't the diary of a spiritual journey. It's a testament to the easy and long-range mobility defining our generation.
I do not have any plans to become a yoga master or to convert to Hinduism. With any luck, I will even find an apartment with air conditioning and a Western toilet.

Everybody asks me, "Why are you going to India?" And I have been telling people that I am going to juggle, I am going to work out, and I am going to cook a lot of oatmeal. I am going to do what I love.

It's essential reading for me because I'm working to have a global comfort zone, to ween myself off nationalism, to learn the wisdom of other cultures, and to live worldly. My intentions aren't necessarily spiritual either ... I want to be ahead of the game, to be on the ground in opening markets, to develop creative businesses that fairly benefit the supplier and demanders.

And, thankfully but bittersweetly, only because I'd prefer to do it myself, Nick is trailblazing. He's attempting to live comfortably in India, not as a tourist, but as a creator. He's a prototype for a new wave of cultural and entrepreneurial mashups.

Colombian Night

Colombian Night on Vimeo.

In celebration of a ten-day trip we're taking to Colombia with our friend Paul and his family in Bogotá, we prepared 4 authentic dishes with the help of Patricia McCausland-Gallo's book Secrets of Colombian Cooking.

While selecting recipes, we picked a few that require prep times of 3 hours or more, and when we asked Paul if this would take up too much of the night, he said, "You have to learn to eat like Colombians do ... late and long." Indeed, the meal took 6 hours from start to finish. A new Copy and Taste record.

We leave tomorrow to taste the real thing, and what a superb feeling to know we've earned it!

Check Copy and Taste for recipes.

Listening to Vampire Weekend.
Vampire Weekend - Oxford Comma
Vampire Weekend - Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa

I like the way Chad described them: It's like Paul Simon influenced some hip kids who came from money.
